Hi all
Just got a fab deal...
I have these already with NTL/ now Virgin media :
Talkunlimited 24 (landline calls, anytime of day upto 1 hr) = £25
Broadband 2 mb, which is fine for us (normal price £18,currently on a deal for until April) = £9.99
In total I'm currently paying £35, that's until April then it goes up to £43 when broad band ends.
Well, I've been reading all the threads regrading the deals with tv/ broadband/ landline, and like a others decided to give NTL/Virgin Media a call. However, after a call to them every evening for the past week hoping to speak to someone nice
(if you know what I mean) I still never got anywhere near a deal, or a nice little reduction. That was until about 45 minutes ago
Yep, came up trumps....Thanks to this webiste, and a double checking first on the vodaphone website for proof. And went in for the kill... Hubby went upstairs, he couldn't listen
( Chicken) I dialled 150 and waited, pressed buttons until I heard retention, heart stopped but I made, I was finally was brave enough to do it..
I asked, as the account is in hubby's name to find out who to go about cancelling the broadband/ telephone. And was told it is 30 days notice required, ok I said I'll tell hubby
" may I ask why your hubby is thinking of cancelling " he asked.
"yep, vodaphone are doing unlimited talktime, broadband with download upto 8mb for just £25 per month. He's paying £35 at present for the same, and it'll go up in April to £43, big difference hey " i said shaking..
"No problem, he gave me the spill of virgin/ntl are now one, and straight away offered us Talkunlimited 24, 70% mobile calls from the landline phone, some sort of discount on international calls (couldnt believe what i was hearing to listen to this bit) & my 2mb broadband for just £19.95 for life"
then offered call display for £1.75. Total of £21.70 per month.
"That's deal I shouted", whilst waving like mad idiot to hubby who was hiding on the stairs!, hubby then had to ok the deal, as it was in his name.
It just shows, it's not worth speaking to sales, go straight to retention.
regards

British Gas/ Electric confirmed reduction costs as of March 12th,we will recieve a letter with next statement
Earlier tonight I got my Hubby a brand new mobile phone free ,with vodaphone tonight worth £150 , and wrangled a free 512mb memory card, and got him a 12 month contract on the same deal he has been on for years rather than an 18 month contract.
