Many years ago , I can remember my Dad making coal dust cakes using coal dust, water and a little bit of cement powder. He had a small round shaped "potatoe" scoop. After making 30 or so they were laid out to dry on newspaper. They were used the same as normal coal. They were called "pele" if I remember right.0

Would love to find a use for it. We run our stove 24/7 through the winter, its our main source of heating and we generate a fair bit of ash!0

I do torn up newspaper, soaked, add coal dust and sawdust left over from sawing wood up for the fire, mix together, squeeze big handfuls into roundish shapes and dry out under the stove.I usually put a few on when lighting the fire or when it's burning a bit dead and they really get it going.
This year i WILL have savings!0 -
