Can a relative lend you the money ?Am the proud holder of an Honours Degree
in tea-making.
Do people who keep giraffes have high overheads ?0 -
Sadly we are the family bank,we are the ones people come too to borrow money,no one has any after Cristmas, they say!0

If this is for a missed mortgage payment then telephone your provider tomorrow and see if they can wait till he gets paid and then pay the arrears as well. As this is a secured debt it is a prioirty debt and it is important that you contact the lender do not just leave it.0

I think clarissa62 has made the best suggestion. I meant to post the same thing yesterday but I hesitated thinking that it could make the OP's husband vulnerable to some exploitation by the employer if there was any negotiation still to be done prior to retirement. However, if the retirement package is a done deal then it would seem the most obvious course for such a long term employee.
Otherwise, the story really does show how totally useless our banks have become, doesn't it? This kind of thing is EXACTLY where they once proved their usefulness and built loyal customer relationships.
Banks now don't know their a$$ from their elbow - they just know where the money is and they are keeping it and sucking out more as we post.0 -
I am not sure whether this loan is for missed mortgage payments or rent payments.
I know this is the loan forum but I believe this may be also a debt problem and could also be posted on the DebtFreeWannabe forum. The people there are usually extremely helpful and knowledgeable and may be able to help you sort this out without taking out a loan at all, which would be good news!0 -

The cashed pension is not from the employer he is with now,but they may help.
I have been with my bank for years, joined them after the mess with my ex-husband and have had lots of regular money go in until I lost my job recently,bt they wont help because of my ex husbands mess,so I do see why my husband now wants no truck with banks, they have done nothing to help when we needed it.
I just need someone to trust us,but cant get anyone, and for suc a short time too.0 -
As the potential borrower has never bothered to open an account with a bank, developing a loyal customer relationship is pretty difficult.2sides2everystory wrote: »Otherwise, the story really does show how totally useless our banks have become, doesn't it? One of your best moments!0 -
The bald fact is that you can't get anyone to trust you because your record shows you are untrustworthy. That may be the fault of your ex, but it doesn't alter the fact..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
For your information the pension can go into any account we select, that as already been checked,he also works for one of the UKs largest employers who have no issue with it either, and havent for the past 5 years.
Please, please, please get him to sort out at least a basic bank account of his own (or a joint account with you) to get his pension paid in to. If (god forbid) anything were to happen to you then your account would be frozen and he would be left without any access to his money - I've had experience of couples in this situation and it really is the last thing that the surviving partner needs to be dealing with at a very difficult time.0
