Can't access broadband, not sure if PC or line at fault

Hi My friend has moved house and transferred her provider AOL broadband. She appears only to be able to access the internet if she removes the telephone handset, then selects broadband on PC and this gets her the internet access. She has a filter on the phone point. Can anyone give me some advice as to if the fault is with the PC or a line fault.
Are there any PC settings that would confirm what the PC is looking for when the internet is accessed?
Thanks

Could be a dodgy filter. If interne tis working then i dont see it being a line fault, does the telephone work when its plugged in by itself?0

you should have a filter on each phone point not just the one the computer is connected to0

You need filters in all extensions even if they (the extensions) are not used.
Failing that, contact your line provider and request thyat the line be tested.
EDIT: Sky comes oin via a dish. The phone connection is unnecessary.

You need to be more specific, does the line occassionally drop with the phone in place or does it not work period.
As mentioned earlier changing your filter(s) is the first place to start.
It's unlikey to be the PC if there is at least an occassional connectionKeep Parking Free for Bikers - free4bikers0
