Just done my first one too. I think a few people have. I need to keep a record of charity donations next year- well this year.

Ok tax question and this is my first self assessment and have kept good details including mileage and equipment used.
So this self assessment is based on earnings between April 2010-April 2011, really unsure as I started mystery shopping Christmas 2010 and registered as self employed this time last year.
Not sure how this all works but have plenty of time this week to understand it better. Also having a PAYE part time job confuses things more.
I guess there is no specific tax thread for mystery shopping, auditing, merchandising areas is there.
Cheers people :beer:0 -
Could someone please link me directly to the online forms needed for tax purposes? I have had a look around but all the ones I have found seem to want me to type in my business address and won't let me go away without it. Obviously, I don't have one. Or do I just put my home address?0

Which forms are you referring to?! And which sites are you refering to that that you have found in your look around ?
You complete a tax return when the hmrc send you a letter telling you to, and it contains details of how to do that return.
If you are self employed registered with hmrc you register your business address and trading name at that time, be it your house or other address. Tax returns are done online via the hmrc website or via a permitted paper return, the deadline for which has already passed.
looking through your previous posts, i can see you only started this recently, so you will not have complete a tax return yet till this time next year.
I think you should use that time to go on one of the hmrcs free courses, and any other free help you can get for small businesses, I think you may need it or pay an accountant to do your tax return for you if you really are struggling.0 -
