Anyone work for Retail Active? It's my first job for them and they have asked me for specific times. Do we have to be on the nail or do a few minutes either side matter? I have never encountered an exact time before, it's usually between certain times.

It is important that the times are always exact.

What sort of job is it? I did one for them where it was a phone call and I think I had to say when I would do it - think I said it would be 2 o clock and did it around then.

Gapbuster and Retail Eyes are just two examples of companies who require the exact time out (in minutes and seconds for Gap) and in. Get a stopwatch app on your phone (even on my old BlackBerry I've managed this) and get into the habit of clicking it on and off for every single shop - like looking left and right. It's something I'd do as standard even if the report only wants a time frame.

If you are asking about scheduling (where RA want you to put the planned visit date and time in when you self allocate the job), there is some felxibility. For example, if you said that you were intending to visit at 10:00 and didn't actually get there until 11:00, it generally wouldn't be a problem, as long as you are still within the allowable timeframe. With most jobs, you can change the visit time via the website before the day as well.

Ah I misunderstood. Yes, this is true.
  • Damn, I was doing the baguette bank a couple of weeks ago and all I know is the travel shop was to the right of that. Find out the shop number for the bank and the travel shops, work out what the shop number would be for the one next to it, google the address and find out what it is and then ring it up and say "Hi, can you tell me where you exactly are? Are you next to the travel shop?" Or, if that fails I'd ring the travel shop and ask the same thing.
    Thanks.
As it happens, BUN PM'd me the info from his massive database of every retail unit in the north. ;)

And learn for next time to both look and take a photo/ voice memo on phone of every job you do whether brief asks or not, that way you always have the info if needed...
And you know what, I almost always do but I'm having equipment issues right now and taking a picture has become a chore.
  • Lol! They hounded me to do that job and paid me 3x the normal fee. You must have done it too recently.
Yup time bared from most places around there, it's frustrating as hell =)
With you doing the banks and trev doing the travel etc my kids are going to starve, they already have to go out with no shoes on as I can't get any work. =)

Has anyone ever been offered a premium or an extra fee for a visit on GR? They have a travel shop that has been there all week and it needs doing by Saturday. I could do it, but I am not keen on them as they take a long time. Could I call and beg for some more moolah or would they just tell me to shut the hell up?

Oh and GR and the munching company that cannot be named both pending for tomorrow!

Give them a ring, mimi. They are very approachable about paying expenses when jobs have been hanging around.
