    Hi
    I live in Lambeth(London)
    From their website

    www.Lambeth.org.uk/environment

They subsidise compost bins from Blackwall 0870 849 4877

    220 litre compost bin £10.50 + £5.00 delivery

    330 litre compost bin £13.50 + £5.00 delivery

Don't know if this is cheap

We are going to get a bin from the council when we move, they offer a huge one for £20 that usually retails for over £100!

What's that, a council doing something right for a change?

Yes it depends on the area you live in. Some local councils or water authorities subsidise them or even provide them for free.

Put your postcode in here to see what is on offeer in your area

Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

I hope you have more success with the green 'Dalek' type than I have had over the years. I have followed all the instructions and find them poor.

I have reverted to the big compost pile at the bottom of the garden.

DH built me a big double New ZEaland Box compost bin from tanalised timber. Our design is from a Geoff Hamilton book (Ornamental Kitchen garden, I think). A similar design is here.

It may not be a cheap as a plastic one, but it's a brilliant design, and works brilliantly.

Lidl were recently selling them for £4-99. May be worth trying there. ;)
