I've never heard of capped contracts at Orange.
I wonder what you are getting for your loyalty that stops you from switching to, say, t-mobile.
  • Quite why anyone is still on Orange is beyond me. They ceased being value for money tariffs quite some time ago. A friend of minewho has been with Orange 2 decades rang me yesterday because he's getting annoyed with them and was in disbelief that he could get a contract from Three with more minutes, text and data than he currently gets for £25 a month less.

Thank you grumbler - i did state this with orange today that if i moved to t mobile but i was told i would need a brand new contract so i will look into that and others for sure -

Thank you too Notmyrealname - i too have got to end of my patience with them and was looking at 3 too and they do capped as my dd friends on it so that would also be very helpful

i am going to take time out over the weekend to really look into the offers and check out when our contracts are due or when i can get out of the contracts at the very earliest too

like you say i need to really get to grips with this now and i have to check out all the options, we have broadband with orange and free calls to eu countries for a 15.00 monthly fee which is good for us as we talk lots and lots to family abroad, but the mobiles are really costing us each around 35.00 each for 3 of us and thats when dd doesnt go over her mins, which she did this last month and my Budget went out of the window this week - arghhhhhhhhhhh:eek:

so thank you both for the kick up the backside so to speak, thanks for your time in replying fully appreciate it have a fun day maz

just tellher to pay the excess if she goes over

Tesco Mobile do capped tariffs too (AFAIK they cap any tariff if you ask). Also, Giffgaff is worth checking. It is PAYG with some 'goody-bags'. Both use O2.

Can you not call from a landline? You can call for just 1p/min through, say, 18185 (£15=1500minutes=25hours), or even for 0.5p/min via 0844 access numbers: http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/
the mobiles are really costing us each around 35.00 each for 3 of us
£20 will give you 800 minutes at giffgaff, £25 will give 1300.

I wish Orange did do capped - just had a bill for £380  for 2 phones. Yes I know its my fault and I can pay it but I could do without it!
