chip shop fryer buzzing noise in my flat !

  • You will find the fryer has an exhaust vent to the roof and this will be fan blown . the fryer will have an interlock with the fan so that when the fryer is started the fan automatically also cuts in . The fan motor will be causing the noise but it may be transmitted further by the ducting. The fan may be a seperate unit fixed on the roof or a wall or it may be an in -line unit with the ducting

Its not really your call to get it sorted, you need to convince the owner he neeeds an electrician.

check with council to see if he needs electrical inspection certs for his premises/?

Thanks again for all your replies and I'm sorry to add further confusion but after MUCH investigation tonight I have established that it is actually the chip shop's main board (with the lights on) causing the noice!!! The lights are the last thing to be switched off and the noise stops when the lights are switched off. I'm planning on phoning the electricity borad tomorrow to see if they can offer any advice. I still don't understand why/how this can be causing such a buzzing noise in my flat...can anyone offer any suggestions on the cause or who I can get to come and check it out? Would I just ask an ordinary electrician? Heather. x
  • Any suggestions?
  • Ask the Chippy to sort it out ! As a thought does he have a Neon sign ?
