Hello,
ive moved in with mrs gs and have been given the job of sorting out internet/ telephone. we live in a village without cable, so any sort of fibre option is out. There seems so many options out there i wonder what the wise memebers of the forum have at home.
i just need internet really, mrs gs wants calls, so i guess some sort of free package would be good, but BTs seems to have gotten very expensive
Just phoned Orange: Orange advertise Broadband & Off Peak weekend calls £5 + 12.75 line rental. but because i'm not an orange phone customer I have to pay a penalty of £5, (even though my girlfriend has a t-mobile phone & they are part of the same compnay) fair enough, also they say "because I'm not in an orange area I have to pay BT a line rental of £10 to use their line".
- advertised at £17.75 a month actual price £32.75

great website thanks, i'm very close to an exchange that i didnt know exsisted, sadly my connection speed is still awful <2mb
that website also is offering Orange deals cheap, but even though I put in my postcode it's the same problem as before

Hi there,
A recent Which? report for BB providers advised people steer away from Orange.
They rated Bethere, Zen, Eclipse, BeGreen, O2 and Plusnet very highly. Plusnet appear to be the cheapest (at around the £7 / month mark).
I know Bethere/O2 have LLU enabled on some/most BT Exchanges. This may help to give better value for money and connection reliability/speeds. Think the samknows site should highlight which exchanges have these ISPs using LLU.0 -
I'm on a very old very rural exchange and I have Plusnet, they are brilliant. BB is £6.49 a month and the phone bills are around £24 month.0

Sky have a 6 month free broadband offer on atm, only look at it if Sky/Easynet are on your exchange LLU list. You don't need to have Sky TV to get it.

Looks like the link for LLU enabled exchanges is here:

We live in a rural area, not that has anything to do with it since our line is only 3.6km long, but is terrible quality and can't do broadband (it can do 1.7Mbps which I don't regard as broadband)
We use Three 3G and consistently get 6Mbps down 1.5Mbps up. It's actually capable of 11Mbps down to this address, but our current router can't do the higher speeds.0
