I'm out of contract with Orange and have got my pac code - what phone should I get so as when I'm travelling I can access certain websites? I'm also thinking that using the phone for satnav would be a good idea.
If possible I want to get a phone through quidco - e2save - so as I can get a cashback deal too. Any suggestions. (I'd use Vodafone/02/Orange)
Thanks

I currently use my Sony P990 to surf the web and I'm quite satisfied with that as only use it for light surfing, if you are gonna do a lot of surfing on it then you might want to consider a blackberry or a o2/t-mob xda variant.0

My suggestion would be the Nokia N73. The browser is the best I have seen on a mobile - this site is very easy to read while you're out and about. The phone will also run several Sat Nav programmes - Navicore is my personal preference. Web & Walk on T-Mobile means I can use it whenever I want without worrying about the cost.

I would go for a Sony Ericsson W950i, nice big touch screen set up for web browsing. If you are going to change you tarrif I would recommend 3s new one, you get unlimited web browsing for £10 a month extra or somthing (and they offer the sony on that tarrif!) just go to the 3 site and look at the x-series

The 02 Orbit is a neat PDA phone with built in GPS and Wi Fi but won't get cash back, I think in store price is best with trade in. T mobile have the Artemis same as Orbit but no Wi Fi. Orange have SPV M700 coming soon similar spec all running WM5 and the long announced Nokia N95 may be out in March with high spec S60 operating system. None of these are cheap but are good for internet and built in GPS but may have to source software for them, I am waiting for the N95 as I prefer S60 op sys but price could stop me.0

Great site to use when viewing the web is https://www.google.com/xhtml - it converts pages to fit in your screen rather than having to scroll from left to right etc0

Having had a P900 before I'd certainly consider a phone like the P990i or W950i for web use, and like many of the suggestions here, the HTC range of windows smartphones (call them SPV, XDA or MDA, they are all HTC products underneath).
The only downside with smartphones is they often lack the power (processor/memory) or fully featured browsers to really make surfing really useful or easy.
Another option, although slightly more bulky, is to get a decent phone with bluetooth or wi-fi (ideally on a 3g phone) and get a Nokia N800 which has recently launched. Its basically a handheld computer operating on a Linux system with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity so you can connect to your mobile or local wi-fi hotspot (theres possibilities here with some free area's appearing and offers like BT allowing access to their wi-fi network with certain home phone/broadband packages). Its got a 800 x 640 pixel touch screen and looks pretty promising. Check out https://www.nokia.co.uk for info0 -
I had an MDA compact II on T-Mobile, and it rocks for internet access.
There is a new version, the MDA compact III, which should be free on contract.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
If you don't get a PDA-style smartphone, consider installing Opera Mobile on your phone.
How it works is that it reduces text and images to mobile phone screen size on their servers, and then sends that to your phone, instead of downloading the full image and text to your phone and then the phone resizing it.
I've cut a huge chunk out of the amount I pay for mobile 'net access every month by using OM instead of my phone's inbuilt browser. It's also usually faster to load.0
