    Thank you Savvy_Sue - just checked and the £40 rate at Mitchell Street cannot be cancelled, the flexible rate is £60 - £70 so will take your advice and have a look around for something better.

    looking at booking.com there seemed to be some nice B&B places in Clifton, again a bit of walk to Commercial Rooms but there's a train to / from Temple Meads and it would be downhill. :rotfl:

  • Why not try crashpadders.com. Its people whio have a spare room you can rent out for as many nights as you wish. My sister does it in London but its worldwide. Link below for a single room in Bristol for £15 per night as an example.

    The Commercial Rooms (Wetherspoons) in Corn Street worked well when I organised a couple of Bristol meets - it's central, cheap and there's parking nearby, plus it's not far from Temple Meads and the bus station.

    You can't book, but if we got there before the lunchtime rush we'd probably be OK and could bag the comfy sofas or a spot near the fire. It's quite big inside.
