I'm up for it if I'm free!

And Wetherspoons sounds good to me.

  • Just had a look on google maps - the Wetherspoons, do you mean The Commercial Rooms or The Berkeley?

I recently (Nov 11) stayed at

    http://www.futureinns.co.uk/bristol-hotels

for a school reunion. We had 2 rooms for 8 of us - 2 big double beds in each and it was only £110 per room and that included brekkiie £12 & parking in Multi storey £12.50

The price is more for March

2 BIG double bed room for 2 people = £94
    " 3 = £114
    " 4 = £134
includes parking in multi storey but no brekkie

We went to the Commercial Rooms, but there are several others, aren't there? That one's handy for St Nicholas Market.

  • The Commercial Rooms is nice - went there recently when on jury service at the nearby Crown Court. Food was nice and affordable by MSEers.

Have pencilled 31st in my diary - it's also Earth Hour day!

  • Hi all

Looking good for 31st March.
The Wetherspoons Commercial Rooms on Corn St is a good place to meet and St Nick's market is interesting to have a walk around. Also handy for the station.

It's all coming together-looking forward to it. Shall we all wear a fancy brooch or something to recognise each other? :)

A nappy pin is the 'traditional' emblem for the OS meets, isn't it?

alternatively a few people say what they look like / will be wearing. If I make it, I'll be the one with a pink bag and a sticky-up 'fringe'. If a few others chip in with their distinctive features, it'll be easy for anyone else to spot us.

But we might prefer to leave that until nearer the time: if the weather's still cold I'll also have a pink scarf. If it's in between, I may wear my cardigan which has plain pink sleeves and a mottled pink 'body'. If it's warm, I'll be in a pink skirt. You get the picture? :rotfl:

Hi, I'd like to come please circumstances permitting - may need a hotel so was thinking I will book now and then cancel if not needed. The Travelodge you mention, is that the Bristol Central, Anchor Road or Bristol Central Mitchell Lane?

Mitchell Lane is nearer Temple Meads rail station and the Commercial Rooms. Anchor Road is quite a walk from Temple Meads but do-able back to Commercial Rooms.

However I'd go through one of the sites like laterooms, booking.com and see if you can get a cancellable deal for less than travelodge somewhere with a bit more character.

Just don't do what I did the other day, and completely FORGET to cancel a provisional booking I'd made, until it was too late. :o
