Prom Dresses

Hi..
I was hoping for a little advice please.
My DD is in Y11 at School and has begun to mention her Prom in July of this year. To what I can gather several of her friends have already ordered/purchased their dresses.
I'm familiar with EBay etc but I don't want to run the potential risk of purchasing from the USA or the Far East.
I was wondering if somebody had actual experience of outlets that offer genuine lovely dresses at a price that won't break the Bank!
Any advice appreciated
Thanks

My daughter had prom last year. Can't say where would be best to buy a dress from as you'd need to look at whats available in your own area, what I would say though is to get as soon as possible, many places make dresses from scratch to order, others may have them on the rail but alterations etc can take a number of weeks. We were told to allow 16-20 weeks for such tasks, I was fortunate in that my daugther walked out the shop with a dress that fitting perfectly but that according the the SA is very rare.
What is your budget?0 -
You will probably find that a lot of last years prom dresses are up for sale from the previous year group.
I know thats the case for the girls who have been in both my sons years.
It's great having a lad, a quick trip to moss bross and student discount the jobs a good un0 -
Budget would be around the £100 I guess, but some of the girls have spent £400+ to what I can gather on their dresses.
I'm afraid with the best will in the world I can't achieve that0 -
Have a look at the sale rails in Debenhams, there were some fabulous bargains last week, also look in T K Maxx. (Mrs Burnsguitarman)0

We bought a beautiful dress from Far East off Ebay for our daughter. It came in a little tiny package and I was a bit worried. It was a lovely gown coral colour and lace up back, it did need a hoop. She had 3 offers to buy it the year after and got her full money back0

I hired my daughters prom dress is was beautiful much nicer than i could have afforded. My sister in law ordered one from ebay for her daughter but when it arrived it was unusable.0

My daughters prom is in July as well.
We have already bought her dress from TK Maxx for £38.
It is absolutely stunning, fits like it was made for her, it is her favourite colour(purple) and looks like it cost £380 not £38.
Now have to get shoes and bag, your post has reminded me to start looking!0 -
My daughters last year came from house of Frazer in the sale. her friend bought hers from the FE and it was a poor fit , but good value. My friends daughter got a fantastic one in the Monsson sale !0

My daughters was a couple of years ago, we used a website called allfordress and the dress was perfect. A bit dearer that some of the others but still a lot cheaper than £400!!0

As burnsguitarman (MRS) advises, try Debenhams. I got my daughter a lovely prom dress from their sale rack - £25, so not to be sneezed at.0
