Of course I can force them, but that would mean getting the lawyers involved. They bought the ground from my late FIL and have never bothered to fulfill their legal obligations
I came on here this morning looking for advice from other people who had perhaps faced a similar problem. I have had a few helpful suggestions and I thank those people.
My neighbours will be home at the weekend (I think) and I hope they take my concerns seriously.0 -

Here's some advice.
If you wanted to get opinions without getting people's backs up, you should have title your thread 'Next door's dogs and my chickens' or similar. Framing your problem in terms of your wish to shoot dogs is never going to go down well on a board full of pet lovers.
Do you actually have a licence to keep a firearm?0 -
If they are "monied" folk but won't do anything about the situation themselves, what about getting the fencing sorted yourself but sending them the bill?:)[0

Few people realise how attached you can get to a chicken when you keep backyard hens. They soon stop being "just a bird" and can become as much a pet as a cat or dog.0

Why should hintza have to pay to keep his neighbours dog under control. I don't understand why people think its acceptable.0

Might be worthwhile leaving a note or a message with whoever is looking after the dogs rather than leaving it until the weekend. Something like "dog loose in my chickens" with you name. No threats just information.0 -

It isn't acceptable but it is realistic. It could cost a lot more trying to make them comply with the deeds. We surround them on three sides and the fence will be 250m -300m long!!!
With regards to cost it might work out at 6 and half a dozen.
The fence would have to be more than just post and wire given that it's a Jack Russell who would be able to get through fairly small gaps, especially if it's determined. Something substantial at that length would be costly.
I suppose it would depend on whether a solicitor's letter warning of further action would be threat enough or whether things would have to go further.
It's annoying though. If people would be responsible for their own and stop anyone or anything of theirs causing issues for others, the world would be an easier place to live in.Herman - MP for all!
