Thank you all for your advice and kind words.
I took my boy yesterday and thankfully we got to see our usual vet - who has very rarely had to see Inca as he was always so healthy - which made it a much 'nicer' experience (not that it was nice but I think you know what I mean).
Everything went as well as it could for Inca and he is no longer hurting. I did get a little anxious when Ed (our vet) said "In a perfect world I will find a vein..." so I said a little prayer and asked for it to be a perfect world - luckily it was and he went off very peacefully.
We chose to bring him home with us and he has joined the rabbits in the garden (caught my DD out there earlier telling him about her day at school)
If I could ask for a little more advice - how do I help my other cat, Sirius? He is pining like crazy and they have been together since they were kittens. He seems really lonely and although we have a dog, who Inca used to have cuddles with, Sirius only tolerates her as a resident of the house and would not seek comfort from her! (I know he is pining as he has even gone to my OH for cuddles and the cat hates him!) Is it just a matter of time or can I do anything? (sorry if it's a daft question)Valuable life advice: never play chicken with a lion...the lion will ALWAYS win!:eek:0 -
Awwwwww ((((hugs))) hun - sorry to hear this .....
RIP Inca, play hard in the sunshine at the bridge wee one xx
Re Sirius - he will probably look for him and pine and that's to be expected - Mia (cat) pined for Ben (dog) terribly as she absolutely adored him. She looked everywhere for him and hardly ate for a fortnight but she's coming around now. Not what I'd call back to "normal" yet - I've a sheepskin run in the lounge that she went and lay and "paddled" on whilst purring every night and she's not been on it once since he's been gone.
Lots of cuddles and reassurance for Sirius - was there a particular blanket (or similar) Inca slept on? If so, that may make him feel a bit happier - Mia's taken to sleeping on Ben's upstairs bed and I often find her up there if I've "lost" her. (((hugs))) againGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Unfortuanetly for Sirius, Inca used to sleep with Rolo (the dog) who he doesn't like
He seems to be on a mission to make my OH like him more - OH is more of a dog person and took quite a lot of persuading for me to get the cats
Sirius is meowing every time he sees someone and is so cuddly, he only ever used to cuddle with Inca and would look at him with disgust if Inca cuddled with me or DD!
I am sure he will be fine given time.Valuable life advice: never play chicken with a lion...the lion will ALWAYS win!:eek:0 -
That's so sad. I'm so sorry to hear about little Inca. It's good that he's at peace and with the rabbits, where he was happy. I hope Sirius get's over it soon.0
