I am scared of them too, but when money is tight I will do it. I just a lot more careful I have even fallen off a ladder from my previous 1st floor property and lived unscathed but shock. Also painted the entire rendering on house and I am going to paint the guttering in the Summer and put in some bitumen paint, but I aint looking forward to it

Sometimes one just has to be resourceful, I have a 3 storey house and nobody will go up there without full scaffolding, so needs must. Those quality wooden hangers are all well and good but sometimes you just can't beat a good old cheap metal one. I have also, in fact, retrieved my house keys through the letterbox and unlocked an old car, so I have nothing but praise for them!
  • God blimey be careful going that high!
  • My gutters are three stories up - no way I'm going up there on a ladder!!!! As we are planning to repoint the front of the house and replace drainpipes at the side, we are going to have to opt for some scaffolding - bit safer :o
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

I guess that a good way around this problem would be to attach a hosepipe to the pole. Set it so that the waterjet is concentrated and that should shift any blockages in the guttering.

The only problem with that Steve_xx is that it could dislodge the blockage and push the blockage further down in the downpipe??

Yes, possibly. I was thinking that the force of the jet of water would cause the blockage to break up and dilute.
  • Wheres the best place to buy this scaffolding do you think?
  • I have a 3000psi washer that is great, but I have found most cheap poles are too flexible and its hard to see just how much is left in the gutters. ladders still best. sorrt
