    I'm wondering the same please?
  • I have a 5M high plastic guttering that is overflowing at present, so am wondering the same.

    So I have invested in one these puppies;

    If it takes a man a week to walk to walk a fortnight how long does it take a fly with tackity boots on to walk through a barrel of treacle?

    I#m currently really thinking of buying 1 of these 2. Please can anyone tell me if the cleaning thing of the end of the pole works well please as we have moss in our gutters.

    I did get our there on my new ladder but we have uneven paving slabs so didn't want to risk leaning over the ladder so this looks good. I was going to pay someone but its gonna be about £80 so this sounds better and you can use it time and time again!
  • How does this lift anything out of the gutter? It looks like it will just scrape or brush it along.
  • U should be able to flick it out of the gutter.

    When my gutters blocked I made my own contraption. An extension pole for a paint roller with a bent hanger taped to it. I initially also attached a little mirror and then hung out of the top window (with my daughter holding onto my leg in case I fell!) and located the blockage. I then removed the mirror and scraped the hook along the gutter in a flicking motion. It cleared the blockage by flicking most things over the edge and then I was rewarded by the 'trophy' of hooking a large lump of earth/moss with weeds growing in it. A bit like Gutter Fishing!
    My neighbours think I am totally mad...but the pleasure was immeasurable!
  • That is a wicked idea! I really don't want to and can't afford for a proffesional to do it so ideas like this r very welcome!

    I cleaned mine out with a ladder and a soft small brush (pan) swept it all to one corner the whole house and then picked it up with my hands and out in a carrier bag, the small amount of grit I just pushed out with the brush

    Job easily done if you have a ladder and a spare person to hold it and I hate going up ladders but like to save money
  • Yes its ok if you have sloping roof but mine is the 1 above the 1st floor windows so very hard 2 get 2.

    Brilliant! :T:rotfl: At least you didn't drop the mirror or fall out...complete with daughter attached to leg still!

    I'm not good on ladders (just struggle to get up them) but i do my bungalow gutters perched precariously on the stepladder at least once a year - i use a garden trowel and bucket to scoop the worst out plus hosepipe to wash them down. I usually get quite wet so wash the render down at the same time! There tends to be alot of moss and sand and i've even found a few chicken bones dropped by passing seagulls too! I always work from the furthest points from the downpipes so i'm jetting water downhill. I'm sure the neighbours think i'm nuts too - especially when i've been out in torrential rain to do it because the gutters are overflowing which is usually when i realise it needs doing!

    I've started to pre-empt the moss ending up in the gutters now by using a garden hoe to scrape off moss from the roof tiles for as far as i can reach (about 1/2 way up). I've seen a neighbour over the back from us actually get roof ladders out to do the same thing sat on the top of the ridge - i thought he was mad...but i guess not that much madder than myself!
