Hello all
My friend who i talk to regularly be it via text or call, their number has suddenly stopped working.
Its worked perfectly fine for as long as i can remember, then this morning when i tried to send them a text instead of getting the normal "pending" or "delivered" delivery report i got "failed". I have retried to send the text but always get failed.
When i try to call them, i get the error message "You have dialled an incorrect number, please check the number and re dial". Now this really confuses me, it was only last night we was talking.
I still have texts from the number in my inbox, so i even try calling directly from the text i got sent so i know its the correct number.
Anyone know why this could be? Has something happened to their phone or something? A problem on my end?
I can call and text other numbers perfectly and recieve all messages and texts.
Any help is very much appreciated,
Thank you

Dial the number from a landline or another phone-what happens? But it would seem that the problem is at the other end. If it doesn't go to voicemail, then it seems she's been disconnected, changed networks/number etc.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Your mate probably ported their number to another network today, and there has been a delay in it completing. Try again tomorrowI spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

Hello
This is Gamezman. It wouldnt let me log in to my account so i had to re register.
I know she has an iphone 3GS. She did Mention she was getting a blackberry this friday, So perhaps she has got it early and like you said she may be keeping the same number and they might be transferring it.
I tried to call from a Payphone, and it also said you had dialled an incorrect number. The really strange thing is that we have been talking constantly for weeks now, I was even texting her this morning (about 10am) and they was delivering and she was replying. Then it just started saying "failed" on text messages and getting incorrect number error when trying to call about 11.30 and has been like that ever since.
Sorry if im rambling, trying to give as much detail as i possibly can. Thank you for your comments & help and any more information/advice is much appreciated.

sorry for double post
Also surely if she only changed her number, or even if she got disconnected it would just act like the phone is turned off?
It wouldnt say you have dialled an incorrect number? (Again i may be completely wrong as i have no idea, which is why im posting to try and shed some light on the matter)0 -
If she ports the number to a different network, it disappears into the ether until it reconnects again. You'll just have to wait and hope it resurfaces again.0

so if she was just transferring the number it will just come back?
Like i said seems a bit strange how it was working this morning, then an hour or so later just not working at all0 -

Porting process happens between 11:00 and 16:00 weekdays. If you've still got the prob now and your mate is indeed porting their number to another network then their number may have "orphaned" on the new network and will need manually attatching to their new account. Normally happens next day as the networks run a report on failed port in/out's daily.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019.
