When i said i had the answer to my question my question was did the company have to be legally authorised or a member of the FSA and this was answered by mroller.
but don't worry when i have the name of the company i will share it with everyone, because believe me i can't wait for the apologies.
because for some reason it wasn't possible for some people to answer the question they just decided to add a comment very helpful!

it is just a question, are they legally supposed to be registered with the FSA. and no i don't think it sounds to good to be true I have seen the evidence that it is true.

Are you sure it was just a straightforward bond type account i.e. not tied up with the performance of some index or other? Even so, I find it hard to believe. The people on this board would have heard about it before now.

my Dad has had one of these accounts it was just deposit your money in your chosen termed account 10 years in my dad's case at the opening of your account you are given what you are gaurenteed to get as your return at the end of the term again as my dad got, on time and the correct amount.
  • Offering a deposit account is not designated investment business per se, but the issue is what other business the company conducts to generate returns. If they're generating returns on client deposits, they will be involved with some other kind of investment business (bonds etc), so yes if they're resident in the UK and operating into the UK market, they need to be FSA-regulated.

I was very intrigued when I saw this thread had popped up again - it's become one of those that you think 'well, what's happened to the OP - are they going to come back and admit a slight error in their calculations, or maybe even let us all in a great opportunity'. Perhaps not.
