T Mobile Rapport: unlocking/recovery mode problem.
Hi,
I wasn't sure whether to ask this here or in the Techie section, so here goes...
I just got a T mobile Rapport today, and I want to unlock it to use with a giffgaff sim.
I tried to use dc-unlocker, but my problem is I can't put the phone into recovery mode! I was told by their cust support that you must press the power, volume- and menu buttons all at the same time, but nothing happens when I do this. I just get the normal home screen.
So, would anybody have any idea what is wrong, or maybe if there are other ways to unlock this phone? I have just spent a very frustrating hour!

Apparently you need to reboot the device holding power and vol up.
If you have the Android SDK installed you could try 'adb reboot recovery'0 -
Thanks for your reply!
No combinations of the buttons works, I tried everything, it just won't go to the "hanged" screen.
Regarding the Android sdk, because I wanted to upgrade to 2.3, I downloaded the 2 files to my laptop following the instructions here to install ClockworkMod (recovery.img and fastboot.exe): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17496969
After that, I have no idea how to do the rest, because it's asking to reboot the phone with the buttons and I can't. Any idea?0 -
Try this, unzip it, turn on USB debugging on the phone (Settings => Applications => Development => USB Debuggin) and run the file called recovery

I've done this and ran the file on my laptop, but nothing happened.
I'm going to leave it I think, because I obviously don't know what I'm doing and don't want to risk bricking my phone! I'll see if I can ask a techie friend to have a look.0 -
Hi,
I've recently bought a T mobile Rapport and I have rooted it (using SuperOneClick - I couldn't get either Gingerbreak or Z4root to work, but SuperOneClick worked first time). I then installed ClockworkMod Recovery and then flashed CyanogenMod 7. It works fine now.
I haven't yet unlocked it. Did you get DC-unlocker to work?0
