oh right - I have never heard of that before.
Depends on what your work is. It's normal for some people. Lawyers, people in financial services who are FSA registered, some banks, teachers... If you have to have any sort of CRB or registration check it would be normal to require it even within employment.0 -
When I applied for my xmas job they did not ask reasons for leaving previous jobs. It was all very informal and relaxed. If they had asked I would have told the truth.0

Any private individual can bring a private prosecution: www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN05281.pdf"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I think the OP is referring to a very specific circumstance - which if I am correct, would easily identify the OP as I can't imagine more than, say, a handful, if that, of these sorts of cases happening at a time! Whilst anyone can lay information before the court, it is relatively unusual - if a theft is sufficient evidenced for police involvement then that is the way that most employers go and few would be in a position to pay legal costs to prosecute - or want to since the state will, if there is a case, do it for them. Unless of course the OP has totally misunderstood what is going on of course, but I doubt that - it'd take fairly unusual knowledge to know that such employers exist!0 -
the be it and end all of it is.
the have to prove you have stolen.

I am being taken to court by my ex employer for alledged theft. I am completely innocent and I will hopefully prove that in court. BUT. What if I am found guilty. How will I ever get a job anywhere again.
If you're innocent you won't be found guilty - simples0 -

Like theres no such thing as a miscarriage of justice? lol. People do get convicted for things they havent done, it does happen. As another poster said best trying to put a good defense together at this point.
If you do get a conviction, you may get some help regarding getting another job from places like probation etc.In effect they will help you with disclosure issues and other organizations will help with C.V s etc.But basically it will be down to you to sort yourself out another job.The help ex offenders get with employment is very limited indeeed.
I know plenty of people who have been to prison who have sorted out work for themselves-it will depend on the employer if they are prepared to have you or not. Some are more free and easy than others.
I think it may be a good idea to think about ideas for self employment too.0
