Hi.
I am being taken to court by my ex employer for alledged theft. I am completely innocent and I will hopefully prove that in court. BUT. What if I am found guilty. How will I ever get a job anywhere again.

Your former employer is taking you to court? Not the Police / DPP?
But sorry - the best I can do is say that people can find work again, but it's never that easy. But it's difficult to say anything else - you haven't exactly told us much to go on?0 -
I have sympathy with you, but it won't help to stress about something that may or may not happen. You would be better off concentrating on gathering the evidence to clear your name, and using your contacts who can vouch for your honesty to find you a new employer when the time comes.

Hi. Thanks for reading.
Yes it is my ex employer taking me to court. They are 1 of a few companies that have the power to do there own prosecutions. My solicitor has told me that it wouldn't have got this far if the CPS were involved.
I cannot really give much more info without giving too much away. I know I am not looking on the bright side and I am sure I will prove that I am innocent but I just need to know if it will be impossible to get another job if not.0 -
it would depend what the conviction is for. it for instance it was accounting fraud, then you probably would find it impossible to find a job in accounting. if it's theft then you might struggle in most jobs. but it depends on the employer, some are more easy going than others.
eta just realised you've already said theft.Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

Thanks for the replies. I think I am just worrying about nothing at the moment as I am confident that I will be cleared. I am not working at the moment. Was dismissed in Sept. Worked as a Christmas temp over the festive period. Now looking again.0

if you already have a job before the ex employer takes you to court you do not need to tell the new job you have a conviction or charges against you. Obviously if you get sent down then they will know as you wont be in work but if you aren't working that will depend on the job you are applying for and if you have to fill in an application form where it asks you if you have a conviction or not, I guess.
My employer requires that ALL private life convictions (including driving offences) are disclosed.0 -
