Private parking 'fine' at work, what to do?

Options
Hi there

I've just received a parking 'fine' whilst parking at my place of work even though I have a parking permit.

My employer uses Town & City to issue parking 'fines' (I understand from other forums that they are not technically fines but invoices?).

I have a valid parking permit to park and pay for the priviledge but they said on this occasion i was parked in the wrong place and that it was an allocated space for a service vehicle.

I'm really concerned because I want to just ignore it because I have a permit but I'm worried whether Town & City parking will chase me through my employer.

Does anyone have any advice or views on this please?

I've only got 10 days to appeal it so time is running out for me to appeal before they double the fine. Eek, never had a parking ticket before!

Thanks all.

Show your employer what scam theses crooks are running on his behalf, question the employer ask him if he is getting any pay off from the scam ?
This is just an invoice and if you ignore them there is not a right lot they can do other than send you silly letters..
There is NO appeal, they are scammers

Are you the registered keeper of the car? If so, simply ignore Town and City and all the junk mail they'll send you. Well known bunch of clowns.

You have a speculative invoice, not a 'fine' and there is no 'appeals' process. Any increase in the amount they want is purely arbitrary. They can simply whistle dixie for it.
  • Thanks for your replies.
My employer doesn't want to know basically and says that I should take it up with Town & City parking, so shall I just leave it then?
I'm concerned because they obviously know where to find me to chase for payment.
I am the registered keeper of the car and yes it was me who parked there but I've got a valid permit it's just that on this particular day they said I parked in the wrong place.

They can only chase you for an actual loss, which is Zero, anything else is a illegal penalty and they would loose in court on a case defended as such.
Arm yourself with what silly letters they will send, fake solicitors, fake court threats.
This is a scam that impersonates authority, do not forget, it can be very good impersonation but that is all it is, for they have no more authority to fine you than the local knitting womens circle does for wearing a non conforming scarf.
In fact the impersonation is so good that the people running the scam have fooled themselves as well !:rotfl:

If your the RK, it's nothing to do with your employer. All junk mail will be coming to your home address where you can file them in a drawer and see if you can beat my record of 18 letters: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3721709

Obviously ignore the whole scam. Read the stickies at the top of the forum including the thread called 'welcome, please read before posting'. Watch the Watchdog clip on there and you'll wonder why you were worried about this fake PCN.

Just play snap with the letters T&C send, do not be scared just compare each letter to our top thread 'PPC letters & threats'. Preview pics of all known letters are there for your enjoyment! :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thanks. Sounds like I need to hold my nerve and sit it out!
  • Ok..quick question...does it make a difference if you get one of these tickets and you are NOT the registered keeper of the car? Yes, the driver but not the registered keeper. Where do you stand in that situation?

From reading other posts about Town and City I can expect to get a letter from AA Hutton (?) at some point so I'll keep people posted as to what develops. Let the games begin!:rotfl:

It just means you personally won't be getting any junk mail - only the RK will.

The RK can just ignore or voluntarily tell them the identity of the driver.

In that case the parking company will either a) send threatening letters to all parties, b) send threatening letters to the driver or c) ignore the information and just keep on sending letters to the RK.

You're dealing with an automatic template letter churning machine, so you have little control over who gets what junk mail.
