A little thread to let everybody know what happens if you don't pay British Telecom a small sum of money you do not owe them...

• 18 very amusing letters over 8 months
• 8 debt collection companies
• 8 final final (final) chances
• A sum of money that seems to fluctuate from month to month
• A distinct lack of county court action
What will the next letter bring I wonder?

You're just waiting for the one with the Freepost envelope to put them all into and put back in the post box, aren't you
I seem to remember something similar happening to us, however we wrote to the DCA (Moorcroft, I think) to tell them to get stuffed since BT owed us money, and they never wrote again.0 -
I feel sorry for the little one in the middle. I bet he gets picked on by the othersOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

Must have cost them a fortune to send all those letters.
As we all know, it costs anywhere between £1.25 and £2 to actually produce each bill or document and put it in the post.
So it's cost up to £36 to send you all those letters. Then, even if you did pay, we all know it costs £5 to process a payment.
Hardly seems worth it does it.

I hope you have got a record of your dispute with BT (and told them so in writing).
Also best to notify the latest DCA that you are in dispute with BT and to stop harrassing you!0 -
It cost BT nothing to send them. The debt would have been sold off within 6-8 weeks. The rest of these firms simply used you as a commodity and sold on your debt for decreasing amounts. There woulld never be court action unless the debt was for a respectable amount - £500 or over, possibly even higher now.0
