Advanced Diploma

I look at it this way if I can study the subject and get an uncommon qualification or a common one then I would go for the strange one. I just like weird and strange things.:beer:0

Why do all arts subjects degrees have to be called BAs? Can they not have a more interesting name?:beer:0

Don't get Advanced Diplomas mixed up with Post Graduate Diplomas. For example, there was an Advanced Diploma I was offered a place on which was in between an HND and a degree, however this is an entirely different level from the PGDE that my fiance is studying.
Also bear in mind that some funding authorities consider Advanced Diplomas to be equivalent to a degree in terms of what they'll fund you up to, i.e. you might not get funding for a degree if you have an advanced diploma.0 -
It seems to be very unclaer what an Advanced diploma is then.
So fromthe OU they are a PG Cert with something else added in and at some places equal to a PG Dip and others between an HND and a degree.
That is very confusing!:beer:0 -

They're MAs in Scotland. Confuses English students no end! :beer:0 -

The MA instead of the BA at older universities in Scotland is well known.:beer:0 -
I know the Trinity and Oxbridge MA is not real either.:beer:0

You'd be surprised. I go to one of the more 'prestigious' universities in England, and none of the English folk I've met in my four years have known much about the Scottish education system. No idea what an MA is, what a Higher is, or that an Advanced Higher is the equivalent to one of their precious A-levels!
Am jealous of the Oxbridge MA. One of my friends is planning on getting one soon.:rolleyes:0 -

Oh well, I have a strong intrest in education and funny things-- so that explains it.
That is why I like the idea of doing an Advanced diploma as I know they are not common and they will be history soon so it interests me, lol:beer:0
