Advanced Diploma

Are Advanced Diplomas considered post graduate level or under graduate level?

They seem PG level but it is not clear:confused:

  • hi phil .. "advanced diplomas" are postgraduate level some of them lead to master degrees. You normally require a degree or equivalent.
There is also "normal dipolmas" these are under graduate level.

You might as well something with the name of postgraduate rather than advanced then as advanced seems a bit unclear,

  • Actually, I have an undergraduate diploma too (from the OU). I just looked it up ... OU says,

Advanced diplomas are a bridge between undergraduate and postgraduate study.

I've just been calling it a diploma and using the wrong letters on my CV.

Nice one SP - a useful post for me ;)

What should it have been called if not a diploma?

I have this interest for strange things and advanced diploma attracts me as it is not very common. But it is just a matter of working out what level it is. That quote certainly helps cheers!

Under graduate Diplomas are written like this Dip HSW (Open)

Adv Dip Ed (Open) 60 points under graduate study plus 60 post grad study

PG Dip Ed ( Open) 120 points post grad study

Brackets show what University you studied with

Example on my CV I would put

Cert HSC (Open) HSC Health and Social Care
Dip HSW (Open) HSW Health and Social Welfare
Dip SP & C (Open) Social Policy and Criminology
BSc Hons SP (Open) Social Policy

  • ... I've never used my letters ... just as well since I have no idea how ;)

  • I still think that a PG dip is not the same as an Adv dip.

Adv dip is 60 UG points plus 60 PG points.
PG dip is 120 PG points

I was always told with letters that you put your first qualification and then your highest plus any relavent professional memberships for the function you are using your letters for.

so BA, PHD would be an example of that if you have a MA then you should miss it out.

But post nominal letters are only for if you are a big head anyhow,
