  • Personally I'm not worried about my credit score as I intend never to use credit again.
Debt @ 17/11/12: £12,017 :embarasse. Hoping to be debt free by June 2014 :).
  • Morning All

Hope you all ready for the week ahead. We have snow in Yorkshire.

Apologies for not being around, work is extra busy just now.

Did people see the adverts on TV for both moneyadviceservice and stepchange? Superscrimper season starting 21st Jan too. Sign of the times, the recession has hit proper. I think we should be grateful we are past our lightbulb moment and in recovery and rebuild mode already.

  • Morning Everyone!

Just popping on with a small update, I have noticed a big reduction in the calls/texts/emails asking for money from creditors - I guess this is the DMP beginning to kick in? I have managed to sleep for the first night in a long time feel a lot calmer about things, and looking forward to being debt free and I want to do whatever I can to get there sooner!

    Positive mood for me today!

We don't want credit either but there are other things that involve credit checks, e.g. new bank account, mobile phone contract, insurance, changing energy supplier etc.

In any case, I object to the way that the creditors pick and choose how to mark our credit files and abuse the system

No snow at home but plenty at work.

My own superscrimper season is starting this month with car tax and breakdown cover due at the end of the month. Am currently searching for the best deal on breakdown cover, having already cancelled the AA and pocketed the £50 cashback from last year :D

Totally agree on the recession biting hard and I think it's going to get a lot worse with benefit cuts and universal credit etc. I think we are lucky to be where we are.

Your on a dmp and your credit is shot to pieces, along with everybody else on this thread, including yours truly.

Unfortunately you have broken the terms of your credit agreements by either not paying the contractually due amount or missing payments. In my case both (and yours by the sound of it).

Once your debt free, the bad bits of credit data will start dropping off your file but it will take a while to become clean.

I did make all the payments (I just bought less food and didn't go out but it was a real struggle, I was only making minimum payments and the minimum payment at one bank was less than the interest charged so I could only see it getting worse), I only missed payments when instructed to by the debt company to try for my IVA.
What's done is done though, each month it's been easier, each year that has passed it's slowly slipped to the back of my mind.

I should never have moved out of my parents! What's done is done, I think I just need to get used to the fact that I'll either always be living at home or renting and scrap any ideas about having kids.

Not long to go now, 4 months and I will be debt free!
    Debt Free: 24/05/2013!!!!
2014: A years supply of Ecover washing up liquid, Phantom of the Paradise steelbook, A selection of Ojon goodies, £500 ASOS vouchers.

Focus on the positive of being debt free in 4 months :T

Then back it up with the fact that everything on your credit file will be gone in 6 years and 4 months, if not before :j

I renewed breakdown this week too. Topcashback have got some great deals with RAC. It said for new customers but I put my details in and accepted them. I managed to get it monthly at no extracharge, road and home for £7.49 a month plus TCB commission. Bargain!

13 is going to be a good year for us DMPers, the worm has turned

    Good luck
