hi everyone, we have just had our paper work throu from step change, and hoping to get it all emailled to them by monday, how long did it take to arrange it all??

    Hi

My plan went live yesterday after dropping my paperwork to StepChange on Tuesday. First payment due on 1st December.

Everything has been very quick to set up and queries dealt with promptly.

Good luck with your plan and here's to a fresh start in 2013.

I have been working away for the last week and a half so got home yesterday to a mountain of post. Last time I was away was before the DMP started so the letter opening was a real chore and quite worrying as we were almost out of cash..

This time though all the letters were just confirmation of payments or statements, nobody chasing anything.... It did feel really good, I swapped the tea for a nice cool beer instead!!
    Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35
    Now £27,470.20 :T
    57% of debts cleared:beer:

just a quick Q, when sending details of debts do you have to send addresses, phone numbers etc? or just company name, account no and how much??

I did screen shots too and they were accepted

I did the debt remedy on Saturday morning and by Wednesday all paperwork was in place with CCCS, new bank account open, token payments made and direct debit changes. Things move quickly as long as you keep in charge and do the leg work.

    Good luck

  • I've had another call from my wife today regarding our post. Lloyds have now written to say that they are closing her CC account, and we've now had another default letter for our main joint CC. Again this one is not YET in arrears but they've defaulted us. This CC is our biggest single debt so I'm worried what this means - if its a precursor to stopping interest or if they are going to try to make a grab for money in some way.

Can anyone relate this to how Lloyds have previously dealt with people.

    Thanks

If you have told them you are going on DMP this is likely to happen as you presumably have set out the intention NOT to meet the minimum payment term. Defaults on a DMP are a positive sign. Some of my debts still have AP (arrangement to pay) on the credit record, this means they will stay on file for 6 years after the END of my DMP, i.e 10 years in total. The defaults will be gone in 6 (or 3.5 years from now)

I had to see my bank about something last week, and was adcised there was a Credit Buearau marker on my records (with regards to my DMP) and was told not to worry as they were happy with the way I was running my account.
  • Finally sorted new bank accounts out but was wondering as my children have savings accounts with Santander of which my wife is a trustee and we have a debt with Santander can they access the money from there accounts? or are they safe?

    Hi

    Kids money should be safe.

You could always move it if that gives you extra peace of mind?
