How long ago did you write to them? I would follow it up with another letter, something like:

    You
    Date

    Them

    Dear Sir/Madam

    Re account number:xxxxxxxxx

Thank you for your letter of DD/MM/YYYY concerning the above account.

We sorry that you feel unable to suspend interest charges on the above account. All of our other creditors have agreed to suspend interest charges still accruing. They have accepted that to continue to charge interest would not assist us in our present financial difficulties, and can only serve to increase our total debt.

As you are aware, we have already paid considerable sums in interest to this account. If interest charges continue the monthly instalments we are paying will not even cover that interest. Also, the cooperation of our other creditors who have agreed to freeze interest already could be put at risk.

We would therefore be grateful if you would reconsider your decision not to freeze the interest. This would mean that the monthly payments we make would actually reduce the balance owing to your company.

We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. We have also contacted the Financial Ombudsman to ask for their assistance in the handling of this complaint.

    Yours faithfully

    You

That's just like the letter I sent. Posted around a month ago. Got the 'get lost' reply yesterday.:( Didn't contain the last paragraph though. Maybe I should do that.

Sorry people if this is a little lame...i entered all my details on the cccs website and they emailed me my dmp pack and number. When I try log in it says that the number doesnt exist and they cant find any trace of my email address. Is this normal? Does it mean that they havent loaded the information up yet? Feeling pretty vulnerable at the min hence my post.

    Thanks
    j

Hi J. No question is a lame question on here :)

You won't be able to log on until you have completed all of the paperwork and sent it back. Then they'll send you a log on number etc. Also theres not a lot to see until your first payment has gone to creditors which is around 2-3 weeks after youve paid cccs. They usually send me an email to say it's ready to view.

:T Well done for finding the courage to phone them :T

I told you they are on your side. They won't change their minds or make you pay more than you can afford.

When does your first dmp payment start? Have you asked CCCS about delaying the payment until you get your bank account and dds sorted? Don't wait - cancel everything now then ring the companies and set up the new dds from your new bank account. Don't worry about missing a payment date, if you have phoned the companies and explained that you have changed banks they will be fine. If you do miss one during the switch they will just take a manual payment over the phone or you can post it. Just make sure you have everything up and running before you make a dmp payment. Also send letters to your creditors saying you are starting a dmp (give them cccs contact details & your reference number) and send them £1 token payment with the letter.

I think you can just not sign the paperwork but it might be more courteous to let them know - maybe email them?

Set your bank acc up asap. Mine took about a month to get up and running but it might be quicker if you go into a branch and do it.

Sleep well (and many more to come hopefully).

Don't bother writing back to HSBC then, go straight to the FOS.

Evening everyone. Nice to see all the support and the polite disagreements!

I'm a bit peeved. My landlord, without my permission I hasten to add, sent someone to empty our septic tank and has sent me the bill of £125. Now I appreciate that the tank has to be emptied but having phoned around I could have got it done a lot cheaper. I have complained because for all they knew I could have had the tank emptied the week before, and they didn't give us any notice that someone would be entering our property which I thought they were obliged to do. I have rented from them for over 8 years now so am not happy to be treated with such indifference.
