Bad news about your car. 17 days to our MOT (same day as ds birthday
). Fingers crossed it will pass but if not it will have to sit on the drive until we can afford to fix it. At the moment we only use it a couple of times a week but we might need it more in winter. Hoping not using it has preserved it enough to get a pass!
Yes it was a pain. The clutch went and it cost over £600 just to buy the replacement parts. I did check online because I thought that was a bit steep but that was the cost. Someone suggested buying the parts ourselves and getting the garage to fit them, but all the garages we tried said they wouldn't be able to guarantee the work if they hadn't bought the parts. They get you every way don't they?
On the plus side the car got through the MOT with no trouble at all and we thought it was going to cost us a fortune again. So good luck with yours hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg or ds's birthday cake!DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Just out of interest, do you 'growurown'? It's something I'm thinking of, growing mainly fruit and herbs but I've been growing tomatoes since february and even though they're around 2-3ft high there's not one tomato on any of them!0

Yes I do! I'm a keen veggy gardener. I like flowers but you can't eat most of them. Haven't had many tomatoes at all either. In fact it has been a pretty bad year for everything except the rhubarb:rotfl:
I grow herbs too and must say I find it very satisfying especially when I go into Waitrose and see little bags of them for over a pound and I get mine for free.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

It's rhubarb I want to grow! And strawberries, chives, apples (my tree isn't growing much either!) tomatoes and maybe potatoes. The tomatoes were my first 'experiment'. I might get some by christmas!:D
I know who to ask for advice then!;)0 -

You could always go to the greenfingered moneysaving board for lots of advice too. I think our fellow DMP'ers might not like us taking over this thread with gardening advice:rotfl:
(Rhubarb - find someone who has some, take a spade and chop a lump off the root and plant it. Give it plenty of room as they get big. It will be free as well. Very MSE:money:)DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Hi all. was hoping to seek some reasurance off people. Been on a dmp with cccs since march and things have gone great. paid off £1000 so far. my concern is, i start a new job next week and in light of this i contacted the cccs as i was concerned due to the lower basic wage i will be on until i start earning commision. Basicaly the cccs recommended i reduce my 199 a month payment to 64 a month. My question is, does anyone have any experience of this and is there any risk of ever getting a knock on the door from a debt collector. couldnt care a less about my credit rating just wondering what the worst case scenario could be in reducing my payment for a while until i start making commision. many thanks guys, appologies for any poor grammer or spelling. im tired. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz:cool:Embrace The Chaos!:cool:0

Hi jonesey :hello:
I don't have any personal experience of this but have seen a few people posting that they have had to drop their payment to CCCS for various reasons and it seems to have worked out ok.
I think Blushing Rose was one but I haven't seen her post here for a while. If she reads this, hopefully she can tell you how her creditors reacted.
I think the important thing is that your creditors will still be receiving regular payments and that when you have your commision sorted, you should be able to increase it again and get your DFD back on track.LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Latest update. Barclaycard have sent a letter saying they've accepted our CCCS payments, withdrawn the charges, will only write to us and will send us monthly paper statements from now on. Hurray!
Slight niggle, they are still charging interest at 6%.
I know it's a much reduced rate but is it worth writing and asking them if they would reconsider charging interest at all? We owe £3.3k. Has anyone managed to get them to remove interest on a similar amount?
Hi Tigsmom,
They seem to treat everyone differently. They are the biggest creditor we have, over 4 cards, but they have cancelled interest on all of them and accepted the lower payments. It might be worth dropping them a line and asking them to cancel interest. I think I read somewhere on here that they did this a few months down the line with one person and then refunded all the past interest to the start of the DMP!
Can't believe, second months payment goes out of my account this week!!Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35Now £27,470.20 :T57% of debts cleared:beer:0 -

Yes my first is due on 1st so I preume they'll take it on 31st with it falling on a Saturday? I think I might send a letter to Barclaycard asking if they will reconsider. They kind of beat me into submission by being so nice about everything else!:rotfl:0
