DMP & Mutual Support Thread - Part 8

Today is a very good day in our household. First it is the 25th which means CCCS payments have gone out and I have updated my signature and we are now over the £5000 paid off mark :j
Second, a couple of weeks ago I read a thread on the DFW forum entitled
Lloyds won't freeze interest - has the FOS helped you?
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3843079
started by Pink-Angel. Pink-Angel had written to the FOS complaining about Lloyds TSB charges on her loan, CCCS and OD and the FOS had managed to get her interest frozen plus a refund of interest paid which added up to over £1000!
We decided to give it a go and rang the FOS about the charges being added by Lloyds TSB and M&S. They sent out letters on 16th May and told us to contact them again in 8 weeks if nothing happened. I set my calendar on Outlook all ready to phone them again - oh ye of little faith and all that :rotfl:
Despite having heard nothing from Lloyds TSB, today I checked my account and have had an interest refund of £175.73
So if one of your creditors has not stopped interest on an account, please please please pick up the phone and ring the FOS

Fab.
Thanks 925pws
Have since had 2 letters from Lloyds TSB and neither makes sense :rotfl:In the first letter, they say they have refunded our interest but the amount in the letter is nothing like the actual amount and they also say they are stopping the £143 interest charges for this month when they had already notified us the charges would be £95. The second letter refers to "our recent phonecall", hmmm we haven't had oneThen goes on to say they will be reducing the OD by £88 per month to match our repayment plan but CCCS actually pay them £185.19 per month. So we have no idea what is going on

I worried myself sick over that one too and sat up until midnight watching our banks accounts, old and new, to check our wages went into the right one! Morning all
For the newbies.... my I applied for my DMP online and got the agreement from CCCS in 3 days. I was fully set up with a coop bank account within 5 days. I transferred wages and insisted salary dept sent me proof they were putting into my new account so I didn't come close to a heart attack!
Have just been ferriting in the cupboards as I have so much stuff that needs using up. Am going to try to only buy things to go with what I have in and get it all used up in an attempt to declutter and save some much needed money for the car service and MOT.
Does anyone know how long salad takes to grow?

Do you have a MOT in June too? Ours is due in 3 weeks and we were already a bit worried as our car has a massive mileage and we drive about 450 to 500 miles per week. Then to make it all worse, the ABS warning light came on Friday night and am now in panic mode
I grew rocket last year and we were picking small leaves in a couple of weeks I think. What are you growing?LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Sounds like we are in a similar position re the cars. I need to get over the next 9 weeks then should be ok. Prefer not to interrupt dmp if possible as I have been victim of the choas that can cause!
I haven't grown anything yet but it makes me cring3 spending £2 on a bag of salad!
Thanks for the info.

My MOT is due in June too - Ive put £200 aside for it and praying it wont need anything major. I dont do as many miles (maybe 200 a week) but havent replaced anything major yet and its 7 years old. MOT a week on wednesday, so will be crossing my fingers like mad all day! If it costs less than the £200 I will be celebrating big styleSealed Pot no 20110

We are expecting some extra income this month from OH's exam marking but we wanted that to go towards natWest OD not car bills. It looks like the ABS issue could be one of 3 things, one fix is free, one costs a few pounds, the third would write the car off. So we need to 1) jetwash the wheels and hope there is muck on the sensors. If that doesn't work, 2) check the fuse and try replacing. If that doesn't work, 3) use the exam marking money to buy a cheap car but we are both useless so would have to find someone to come with us to the local auction. I think it's time to go and ask my neighbour can I borrow his jetwash then pray.
Last time I was in the poundshop, they had loads of packets of seeds and I think some were for mixed salad. Salads in the supermarkets are a real rip off.iwilldoitthistime wrote: »My MOT is due in June too - Ive put £200 aside for it and praying it wont need anything major. Our old faithful is 7 years young too and just hitting 160,000 miles. If our MOT costs less than £200, I think it will be a miracle and I will definitely be doing the happy dance! :j
