foxsat recorder. How to record

Hi all,
After reading reviews on here some months back I bought a second hand foxsat box still under warranty. We only recently installed it with the help of a visiting grandson. The instructions stated there should be 2 wires at the wall from the sat dish. We only had 1 wire but the instructions said you could have limited functionality just recording 1 show and watching 1 other at the same time. That was fine with us. So the grandson connected it with wire from the wall and a coaxle wire going in another outlet and back out. Picture is great and we already had freesat box from before. I cannot for the life of me record. I press the record button and either nothing happens or what looks like an L (or maybe a clock reminder sign) It show on the yellow schedule button but I can't get into it. Sometimes R for record shows when I am trying to record a show for hubby to watch laterr but when I try and find it I cannot see it anywhere. Can anyone please help with very simple instructions on how to record and how to locate and watch please? The instruction booklet is very vague or I am very thick. Do you think it is connected properly if we have a great picture but doesnt record properly or am I missing something very simple? Thanks for any help. Taffy

If you have only 1 feed from the LNB then you can only record the channel you are watching-unless you use the separate tuner in your TV to watch something else (assuming that you have another signal source connected, such as Freeview via an aerial.
Getting a second feed installed is a very simple job, you will of course require an LNB with more than one output if not already installed.
Does it record the channel you are watching OK?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If the little red clock appears on an item in the TV guide then it has been scheduled for recording. As you are only using one feed, if the box needs to switch band or polarity, this recording might fail as it prioritses viewing over recording although you sometimes get a message telling you to switch to the channel you want to record.
To make an unplanned recording af the current channel for the remaining duration of the current program, simply press the record button.
To browse any recordings made, simply use the "Media" button which will show a list of all recordings made.
It is however strongly advised to have a dual feed for these as it needs to be able to "see" two different band/polarities at a time to be able to view and record. It's not expensive to upgrade to a dual feed if you can do it yourself. If getting a second cable in is a probelm, there are solutions to this also.0 -

Thanks for your reply. The instructions said it could be used with one cable from the satelite and to put the cable from the wall into one outlet and to get a coaxel cable and plug it into the other in outlet and loop it to an out outlet. I do not understand much about it. ~It said it would have limited functionality but would be able to record whilst watching another and that is all we need. You said if getting another cable is a problem rhere are solutions to this. What are they please? About how much would it cost to get another cable and who would I ask? Satellite tv people or an electrician? Thanks again Taffy0 -
