ASDA Price Increases on daily staples by 15%
Options
While ASDA is shouting about their cheap prices with one hand (50p for winter warmers for example), they have been putting up the price of lots of staples with the other – for example ASDA’s label (not the smart price one) own thick sliced bread, white or wholemeal, has just gone up in price by 15% in one swift hike - week before New Year 60p (normal price not on "rollback") price after New Year 69%. Let’s hope they don't put the price of other daily staples by 15%!
Personally I would rather they kept the price of everyday essentials down than reduce the price of items such as chocolate fudge brownie milk shakes! Which we all know they do just to grab the headlines rather than offer their customers real help.

Funny that, Tesco's version of those loaves is also 69p, not a price matching cartel of supermarkets - oh no................0

Don't know if there's a thread for them sneaky Asda roll forwards but here's a couple I'd like to start with:-
Asda wheat bisks 24 pack £1 a fortnight back to £1.47 today
Miller Genuine Draft lager 12 pack yesterday £8 today £9
anymore?:beer:0 -
Ingredient (for example, egg) and fuel costs, etc. do go up.
I find most come back down again after a while, so that they can say they're price reductions.
For example, SP 15 eggs went up from £1.25 to £1.58 for a week about 2 weeks ago and then came back to £1.25.
Sunflower Light spread is currently up from £1.00 to £1.26 again. I keep a couple of tubs in the fridge (and you can freeze it, too) so I can "tough it out" until it comes back down again. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Indeed they do but I never buy until it's at the base price :T:D0

I've stopped going to ASDA and Tesco now, ASDA because it's all carby ready meals and yucky nylon clothes and Tesco because the delivery service is lousy, the carrots go mouldy overnight and they rarely have offers on actual food. I'm much happier using Lidl and Waitrose plus Morrisons for fish.
I'm not really surprised by roll forwards as they have X price and then 2 for Y and Y is more expensive !0 -
One very odd "Roll Forward" is the new reduced salt OXO cubes, 71g/12 cube boxes. They almost doubled to £1.95 a few weeks ago. Sainsbury's & Tesco were still £1.05 and £1.07 respectively. I even wondered if £1.95 was a typing error for £1.05, but they're still £1.95 on the website and the shelf.
Tesco are now up to £1.13.
Sainsbury's are not only still £1.05, but also still have a "3 for 2" offer.
They come in beef, chicken & vegetable. ASDA don't sell the vegetable ones. Tesco don't sell the chicken ones, Sainsbury's sell all three online, but only stock the vegetable ones in certain stores. Odd.
I'd rather not say how many OXO cubes from Sainsbury's I now have in both my main and reserve cupboards. But I will use them and they don't go off. And, as my Mum says, "They don't cost anything to feed".The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
