Trouble opening electronic safe

Bought the safe in Morrisons a few years ago, its screwed into the wall. Its a Detroit Electonic Security Safe.
The batteries are running out and it wont open with the code. I am trying to open it with the keys that came with the safe... but not able to open it, the key presses in but won't turn. I'm 100% sure the keys are the correct ones.
Anyone know if theres a certain way to open it?
TIA

Replace the batteries?? Mine keeps the code after the batteries have run out, for a short period anyway.0

yeah just open the safe to replace the batteries.
May have to use brute force or on some safes, when batteries run flat, it opens up. But seeing as a supermarket bought safe, probably not the case,Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
If it's the same type as my friend's, her local locksmith was able to get hers opened without making it unusable in the future. (Batteries had run out and she broke the key off in the lock).0

Was it Michael Caine who said ......... "just blew the bl00dy doors off"Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Replace bateries, try the default code (whatever it is for that model), assuming it came with a default code and you programmed in your own number.
Depends on the safe, some may remember your code, some may revert back to default.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,

When was the last time you used the keys?
The key mechanism might just be stuck.
Nip to local hardware shop (B&Q at a push) and pick up some "lusol" or other penetrating oil.. (can't seem to find Lusol any more but it works wonders on any stuck mechanism!)
Put a couple of drops on both sides of the key at the tip and slide it in and wiggle it about, take the key out them put it back in a few times, now see if you can turn it.Laters

Thanks for all the replies.
Solitaire, have never used the keys before. You can push the key in about a cm, door doesn't unlock though. Have tried every which way to try and open, but no success. Will ask my dad if he has any oil. Thanks!0 -
I would post a link to a youtube video but it is probably against some rule so I PM'd you instead0

if the batteries partially work, warm the front of the safe with a hair dryer slowly for a few minutes and let it stand, it will warm the batteries and increase the current. Often works enough to open the door in a last resortHi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
