I think Orange are trying to con me...

I took out an 18 month contract with Orange in January 2009, in February 2010 i was offered a deal by phones 4 u to upgrade my nokia to the iphone 3gs so i did. After sorting out my new contract I contacted Orange and paid of the remaining months of my old contract.

Everything is fine so far...

Fast forward to December 2011 when I get a text message from Orange saying i'm within 90 days of my contract ending and i'm therefore entitled to a free upgrade. As it was xmas i decided to wait until the new year. (Unfortunately in the time i waited i deleted the text).

So, today i pop into the Orange shop and ask about the free upgrade...they guy was ever so helpful and even happier to tell me it would cos £125!! Somehow they are saying I have 201 days left on my contract and I'm not eligible for a free upgrade until 1/5/12?! To make me more annoyed i've spoken to my ex (we took out our iPhone 3gs contracts on the same day) and she got her new phone in December when she got the same text! How can she be within 90 days and I still have 201????

I've rang Orange and been told they cant help me unless I locate my contract and can prove my start date. This shouldnt be a problem but ts just an inconvenience!

Anyone got any suggestions of what to do??

You've answered your own question really. If you believe that your contract ends earlier than Orange are telling you - then you really do need to dust off the contract and prove your point. Can't really see that there's anything else you can do at the moment.

Was your old contract upgraded early when you got the current one? That time doesn't vanish it's added to the end of the new contract.

If you REALLY want to get to the bottom of it iall, send Orange a Subject Access Request (SAR). This will cost you £10, but it will give you everything their CS system holds on you - not the documentation, but the data they are working from, and the modifications made to your account if it differs from your understanding.
