Would anyone else leave a sleeping baby home alone - or am I overreacting?

Sorry, you've lost me.
Nowhere have I commented on cars in roads, shops, supermarkets, shopping centres etc where you cannot see the car. I was specifically referring to locked cars in petrol stations.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I've only read the first page of this thread and I am amazed to leave a baby sleeping or otherwise home alone is disgusting. Personally I would be in touch with Social Services about it. If you need to go out that badly you put the child in the push chair. What if a fire starts or something equally horrible happens?0

I urge you that if you are certain of the facts please report her..
What if she got run over and couldn't tell anyone the baby was there..What if the baby starved to death because she was in a coma..
Being a single mum has nothing to do with it, before my partner moved in I was raising 3 kids on my own and long term for 5 years, I am also disabled.
This woman has no excuse something must be done before this baby dies or gets hurt.
I know it's not your fault and this isn't your doing but if anything happened i'm sure you would feel responsible..This terrible woman needs to sort herself out...I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0 -
right, imho this thread has gone on long enough. OP have you done anything about this woman? Either HV or SS? It has been very well documented in the news recently that the police can easily trace a post by the IP address and in this case i really do feel like phoning the police myself and giving them the info. The police can then trace the OP and find out what the hell is going on here. I seriously cant believe that we are all sat here typing about this when a baby could be in serious need of our help. Please let us know what if anything has been done.0

Everything I want to say has already pretty much been said.
Please talk to this Mum and/or speak to social services.
Not acceptable to leave a vulnerable child aloneOn a Money Saving Mission....... :jEvery Penny's a Prisoner0 -
My apologies for not posting back sooner, I've just not had the time. I spoke to the HV yesterday. As one poster said, they have a duty to inform the relevant authorities if necessary. Our SS department is not the most efficient (with several high profile cases in the past of things going wrong), so at least this way the HV, who is already in contact with the mother and baby, is aware of the issue and can act accordingly.0

Because
a) I don't feel that I know her well enough to take on the responsibility of looking after her child, and
b) we live in the same area but we are not exactly neighbours, and
c) I work full-time and study part-time, OH works long shifts, my 11 month old (bless him) is a handful and I'm pregnant with twins (which at 45 is a blessing, but no walk in the park). I can't remember the last time I found time to shave my legs or paint my nails. I don't have time, energy or inclination (selfish, I know) to look after somebodyelse child while they get the nails or waxing done.0 -
I wouldn`t leave a child alone, your not safe anywhere so it shouldnt bedone imo!
I have never done it and wouldn`t eitherm if i had to go out then i`d take my children albeit wake them and drag them from their beds i`d do so!!
I was only saying today there is a mum at the school who walks and drops her DD off to school and leaves her DS aged 2 asleep indoors!
Now that to me is irresponsible anything could happen and does happen!DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

You can be prosecuted for leaving a child alone at home (or in a car )under the Children and Young Persons Act, this is not a lie this is fact.
Owners who put an animal at risk by leaving it inside a locked car could face prosecution, this is not a lie this is fact.
Im not responding to you any more, the OP asked a question and I think she has her answer regarding her friend leaving baby alone at home. I do hope the OP contacts HV or SS and hopefully prevents any harm coming to the child.
That's a lie, leaving a dog at risk is not the same as just leaving it in a locked car.
If you make untrue statements you are going to get asked to back them up, the fact you just repeated your opinions as fact shows you up for what you are.
You can be prosecuted if the child or dog is at risk, there is no hard and fast rule as to when this is the case, in one high profile case where a professional footballer and his partner left their kid outside a store in a car it was dropped before it got to court. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-12283024
That's a fact not opinion.
The fact you are not going to reply to me any more because I called you for posting opinion as fact is a bit childish. Used to getting your own way all the time princess? The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I have to say I have never heard of leaving a dog locked in a car as being illegal either.
Now leaving a dog in a car in extreme heat causing it distress is another matter altogether, and I have heard of people being prosecuted for that.0
