Leaving o2 - how? This is confusing (& i don't mean MAC codes!)

I've served my 12 month contract already. I've had 1 email from o2 suggesting that i should wait 7 days from requesting my MAC code (which i did Sunday) - so this Sunday 15th Jan i can supply my new ISP with my MAC code
Which one is true? As both quotes have come direct from o2.
So i asked to check this out whether i'd understood correctly. And received further confusion:Don't forget our seven day notice period. As long as you wait seven days from the date you told us you wanted to leave, we won't charge you. If you're still in a contract though, we'll have to charge you for leaving it early.
So this is telling me to give my new ISP my MAC code, let the transfer take place, THEN contact o2 telling them, and then they will serve a 7 day waiting period on me.Your contract with us is over so we just require seven days notice as
informed on the previous email, if you cancel within the notice period
you'll be charged for early termination fee for £15.32.
I would advise you to please give your Mac key to your service provider,
once your line is activated from their end please call us on the number
which is mentioned on the previous email and we'll take a seven days
notice and cancel your account.
Which one is true? As both quotes have come direct from o2.

Are you on a O2 LLU service? If so a MAC should not be required.
Who is your intended new ISP?No free lunch, and no free laptop

I thought i'd only made a thread on o2 recently here? Must've been another forum.
Anyway, no, it's o2 home access or whatever it's called at £20.50 per month (inc discount). There's no LLU on my line at all.
New ISP will be Zen Broadband.0 -
OK, so ignore my comment-a MAC is required. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I know. My question though is regarding this 7 day confusion.0
