Huge water bills any help?

MY water bills are huge, I live in a four bedroom detached house with 2 bathrooms and 3 people living there. My water bils are coming in at an average of 1,300 per year I just can't keep up with this and I am getting into debt because of it. I have tried to talk to the water company and they have said I may have leak on my house but I would have to pay myself. I just can not figure out how they say I am using so much water, esp as nobody is home 5 days a week.

Is there any advice or help anyone can give.

Thanks

And what is your billed annual consumption?
Yes, if the leak is downstream of the meter then it is not the water utility's responsibility.-it's yours.
Given the apparently huge consumption, it's in your interest to get the leak sorted as a priority, so why have you not acted?
Have you done the basics: i.e. a flow test? Checked that you are being billed on the correct meter? Checked your actual meter readings against the bill readings?

What have you done yourself to sort this out ?
Are the meter readings on the bills correct ?
Is the meter moving without any water being used ?
Is the toilet or over flow running ?
Is the meter serial number the right one ?

You really do need to help yourself as well as us, we can only advice depending on the situation and you have not exactly given us much to go on have you...Help I have a high bill......why ? ? Who knows, maybe you just use more water ? ?
