Default nearly 6 years old

To the OP. Defaults fall off after 6 years provided you've not paid anything to them and they're statute barred. After 6 years and one day contact the CRA and ask why it is still showing. If it stays on, post on here in the debt free wannabe area and you'll get the help you need.
The default and record of the debt falls off 6 years after the default on experian, but 6years and approx 2 weeks on equifax.
The date the debt becomes statute barred is not related to the default date, its the latest of the last payment date, the repossession date, any written acknowledgement of the debt (and assuming they haven't taken court action before then).
OP The only way to know when its statute barred is to know the date when you last paid and when they reposessed the car.
Techinically its possible to get a CCJ on a statute barred debt - if a creditor takes you to court for a SB debt and you do not reply to the court papers then the CCJ will be granted automatically (its not up to the court to check), so if a creditor tries to take action afterwards the debtor must defend against it on the basis they believe the debt is SB.
If a debtor comes across a CCJ at a later date and knows the debt would have been SB at the date of the court case the can apply to have the CCJ set aside.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I'm not disputing paying back money that's owed. Once again, that wasn't the question was it. How do you know it wasn't from excess charges or miss sold insurance etc.? It may be from incorrect paperwork etc etc etc. There are many many reasons why someone can pick up a default and I think holier than though attitudes hurt.
Answer the question, don't give your opinion unless it's been asked for.0 -

If you can't answer the question keep your mouth shut .
As an open forum you are entitled to speak freely, as you are with this silly infantile rant, could you explain why you are the only one allowed to speak freely??
Kindly extend the same freedom of speech to the rest of the board which the board is giving you.0 -

So again, have you ? It's one thing to dispute part of a debt however it does nothing to your credibility if you don't pay the part you don't dispute which I suspect is the case here unless you confirm otherwise.0 -
Yes Car Credit were great, they gave dangerous old bangers to skint, untrustworthy people then went out of business. They knowingly sold dangerous cars at hugely inflated prices....think Carshaft only WORSE (if that's possible)
