Think I wasted my life going to work 6 days a week to earn money to pay my way, settle all my bills when I should have just took on loads of debt and then refused to pay then wait till 6 years pass and although the debts still there they cant ask me to pay up.where did it all go wrong?
Actually i do pay my way, pay hundreds of pounds a month in taxes to this country and pay all my bills!!! The reason i have not paid this is there was a major dispute between myself and yes car credit! They sold me a dodgy car and dodgy insurances. So if you dont have anything constructive to say, dont say anything!0 -

Know nothing of yes car credit only what I read and thats not at all good, having said that if you were happy to accept their credit and their car (after checking both before purchase)is it the case you are seeking a "get out clause" IE dont pay for 6 years and hope it goes away?counting down the time I got left.:beer:0 -

Silly comment, so you only pay your way when you feel like it?
People have a right to say what they think, don't take it to heart.0 -
The moral argument is irrelevant here. Each of us is different and will take different paths through life. Best just to answer the OP's questions, rather than get all judgemental.
OP, correct, no CCJ can be awarded once the debt is statute barred. However, and you really need to bear this in mind, there is still 4 months to go until April. This is more than enough time for a creditor to seek a CCJ on a defaulted account. Ad if you haven't updated your address with the creditor they can send the paperwork to your last known address and get a CCJ in your absence. You won't have any argument for setting it aside due to the paperwork being sent elsewhere as you are responsible for updating your contact details.0 -

No not really, at the time i needed a car. I then come into some financial difficulty and they repo'd the car. they then sent me a figure that i disputed as it was massivly inflated. At the time i didnt know about the 6 years so that didnt cross my mind. But i would like to say im sure i am not the only one who has disputed with this aweful company.0 -

So did you pay the amount you didn't dispute ?0 -
I think you all need to remember the question which was will the default fall off the credit record @ six years on.
The OP didn't ask for your opinion on what should have happened and quite frankly it's wrong of anyone to judge. Nobody knows the whys and wherefores. If you can't answer the question keep your mouth shut or are you that bored you'd like to make yourself feel better than someone else by berating them on a forum? That's really good character building stuff that. You must feel all powerful and clearly you've never made any mistakes in life.
To the OP. Defaults fall off after 6 years provided you've not paid anything to them and they're statute barred. After 6 years and one day contact the CRA and ask why it is still showing. If it stays on, post on here in the debt free wannabe area and you'll get the help you need.0 -
Er I think that you need to remember that although this is MSE, and we enjoy saving money, we also fully endorse the view that people should pay what they owe rather than shirk away from it.Sealed pot challange no: 3390
