Even spur of the moment and controversial then surely isn't controversial now is it?? - What I mean is, there must be people now who'd want to wish them well, and you could still take a pic of the registry office and their first home and things like that maybe. Or would it stir up a wasps nest doing so??

Without wanting to wash too much dirty laundry, the people that they know now that they knew then, well, most of them probably wouldn't like to be reminded of the event. Their first home was a two-room flat on the Mile End Road. I don't think I'd be able to find out the address of the register office, if it still exists, without asking them and giving the game away. I think it's a brilliant idea, just not suitable for us unfortunately.

Many thanks for all of your suggestions. Unfortunately I live on the other side of the world to them so it would cost a bit more than £300 to get me there! My brother and sister go out there regularly. I'll pass on all of your ideas to my siblings and see what they think.
    Thanks again.

    OT. I never knew that!

Our family got my parents a bespoke Ruby Wedding tea service set, cups, saucers and sideplates, with their names on and they used it every day for the rest of their lives.

I have given, Ruby, Sapphire and Gold Roses to people in the past, it should last if looked after properly! How about a tree if you don't like roses?
