nationwide credit card

  • You need to leave it completely for about 6 months to let the applications drop of their system, then reapply.
  • Thanks MentalMinnie.

Need a card pretty sharpish as I'm off abroad, will it have affected my rating on future applications? (i.e. if I was to apply for a different bank's card)?

To give you an APR figure I would suspect a credit search, so yes, I'd expect it to impact your credit rating. Get your £2 credit report and see how many (and what kind) of searches Nationwide have done before applying elsewhere. If there are three there already, I wouldn't apply for anymore credit for at least 3 months, preferably more, otherwise you may be marked as being 'desperate' for credit.

Nationwide state that they are only doing a "quotation search", if you didn't go any further in your app, then there will be NO searches available for other lenders to see on your credit file(you wiill see them only for information) It will ONLY show if you went beyond the initial quotation. If you went to full application then those searches WILL be seen.

That's weird - Nationwide didn't credit check me when I applied for a credit card off them a couple of months ago (I have a flexaccount already).

Unless you just want a general credit card to take abroad, the Nationwide one will be no good. You earn a commission free allowance which is 20% of your spend in the UK, so you'd have to spend 5x what you want to spend abroad before you leave for it to be useful. The Halifax Clarity, Santander Zero or Post Office credit cards would be better (though it sounds like you have limited history so probably wouldn't get them). A current account with Norwich and Peterborough or Metro Bank would then be your only cheap options for foreign use.

  • Hi just wondering how long it takes nationwide cards to arrive?

I applied last week and was instantly accepted just hoping it might arrive before Saturday.

    Thanks
