I have just moved from BT to Orange and the speed has dropped so much that I cannont watch any streamed content - e.g. BBC iplayer and Lovefilm. Wedon't get great speeds where I am but I was getting a reliable 2.5 - 3 which would support iplayer and lovefilm watching,
I rang orange and they said it will take 10 days to settle down. They monitor the connection for 10 days to work out the optimum speed the line can support.
Balony or is there truth in there somewhere?

Sort of...they do allow what they call DLM or Data Line Management, they don't monitor it per se,it's just a period of the line settling down. (bit like running in a new car) They can't log a fault until after this period, especially if you're on WBC.
(I worked for them on a temp contract when the switched from LLU to WBC 21C)0
