He said they would soon find out the truth and that would automaically incur a further baliff charge. he said they check voting registers and land reg. sites to see if there have been changes. I noticed he wrote down my car reg number so I guess they could check that also. he said they always find people in the end, so I would advise you to own up before the debt gets larger.
You can run but you cannot hide.
oh oh... would they do it for a relatively small amount too??Total debt £3625.07.

mizmir - thanks. it is against my better judgement, but since all of you are saying the same, it probably will be true in the end...

It is frustrating - I know I would be fuming. Not doubting what you say - just that if you can't prove it you are not likely to get anywhere. You could end up with more charges, a hit on your credit record, worse case a CCJ (if they did take it to court - who knows if they would). It just isn't worth it. Be thankful that you do have the money to pay it - even if it means you can't reduce your other debt quite so quickly. It will be one worry off your mind for good.0 -
ok - i listened to you guys - I cant actually believe I listen to a bunch of lovely strangers, all of which want to help me. I am actually almost crying.
I just called them and talked to them. They said if I pay TODAY by credit or debit card, they reduce it to £55. I said yes. They said its the full and final settlement. I paid. it got authorised.
I have only one question: they are not lying, are they? if they say thats it, then thats it?
I can't tell you how relieved I am... and I cant believe how nice you all are. Thank you so much, I am so forever grateful ....

I think you should write them a cheque for say £20 and keep paying £20 a month until it is paid off. They don't need to know what address it came from just as long as they have you customer number and things like that. So they might presume that you have had your posted forwarded on.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Well done - good result. Ask them to confirm the full and final settlement in writing when they send you the receipt for your payment....0 -

Good job!
Sometimes grabbing the bull by the horns and just going for it works out in your favour. They knocked £25 quid off...that's more than a quarter!
:TDo or do not. There is no try. (Yoda!)
