I was just about to ask the same thing. You admit you owe this money - you can afford to repay it. Why don't you just send them the cheque and have done with it??

I know :( I dont make sense sometimes but I was kind of hoping that if they forget about that debt I save another 80 and dont have to pay it...

and I am absolutely convinced that this amazon fee is completely unfair and I do NOT want to pay it because i actually do not owe them... I posted some books to two people and a dvd too, and they paid me, and then they said they never received them even though I did post and I know they are lying because they know eachother, and I have been told they are a bunch of amazon cheaters who buy things then claim back the monies by amazon guarantee, and now amazon started to claim this amount from me but I know I posted the items to them and I do not want to pay, and I contacted amazon but they did not listen...

would you waste £80 just to shut them up? thats a genuine question...

And besides, I can not afford to pay it. I do not have money, even when I receive my payment, I will have MINUS 3000 anyway, because of my debt. I cant afford paying off a debt with another debt...

Until they are notified of your demise, they will keep on trying to collect.

They will possibly add charges to the original £80 and maybe send letters next addressed to 'the occupier' enquiring about your whereabouts.

Your debts according to your sig are going down and you have a debt free date of October 2007.
Get in touch and start to make payments.

It will only come back to haunt you

Only if you take the position that paying off EVERYTHING you owe in ONE GO can you not afford it.

I understand it's frustrating, but do you have proof of postage? How far did you take your complaint with Amazon? Did you report the alleged fraud to the police & get a crime number? Prioritise what you've got to deal with. Is it worth leaving one CC with a little bit on it to get this £80 and the worry you are clearly feeling out of the picture?

Getting rid of debt is a bit-by-bit process (unless you win the lottery!). You're doing well & your heart's in the right place...just try to slow down a bit!!
Do or do not. There is no try. (Yoda!)

I have had baliffs knocking at my door for the previous owners. when I told one they had moved he siad "fine", so I asked him why he didn't want proof and what would happen if I was lying and really was the person he was looking for. He said they would soon find out the truth and that would automaically incur a further baliff charge. he said they check voting registers and land reg. sites to see if there have been changes. I noticed he wrote down my car reg number so I guess they could check that also. he said they always find people in the end, so I would advise you to own up before the debt gets larger.

I think if I was sending £80 worth of goods to a buyer I would've insisted on using recorded delivery.... not that that helps you now. Personally - yes I would pay it. Unless you have proof of what you say then however unfair it may be it is always going to go with the buyer. If you have proof of posting you can claim back from the post office if the goods were lost. If you have proof that the goods were received then you can demonstrate to Amazon that you are in the clear (and potentially report the buyers for theft/fraud). Otherwise lI think I would put it down to experience and pay up. It is one of the things about selling on line - ALWAYS get proof of posting at the very least - for valuables use some form of signed for post.
