Monday 9th Jan - What small DFW things will you be doing today?!

Comments

  • Hi everyone.
    Thanks Pixie.
Good to see you back La E, fingers crossed for Mr E.
Welcome Beemuzed, don;t worry about the length of the list, this thread is all about forming small habits that save you money, it all adds up!

Well yesterday went to pot, kept falling asleep so ended up having a very lazy day, must do better today (no work so no excuse).
So far I have taken down bedroom light shade (and swopped expensive daylight bulb for a freebie one, not leaving my good light bulbs when we move! LOL) Have hand washed lightshade and a corset that has been lurking in the bottom of the washing basket for weeks. :o
I've packed 2 more small boxes of bits up.

    To do:
All meals will be from stores.
Try and keep lights and gas fire off as long as possible.
    Check for surveys.
Phone car insurance and change address (as long as it's within 14 days they don't charge an admin fee). Will prob have to pay more for new area though.
    Deep clean bathroom.
    Pack up some more.
    Check for surveys.
Walk pooches up to office to collect rotas for this week and find out why I wasn't paid my holidays last month  (just noticed on Sat when I was looking through my wage slip).
Empty and clean out deep fat fryer ready to move.
    NSD.

Morning everyone. Monday morning weigh in reported a 1.5lb weight loss this week. Not entirely sure how because, with being in Germany all last week, I didn't exactly watch my calorie consumption. Probably just a case of eating slightly less rubbish than I did over Christmas.

Banking is looking horrendous atm. Pay day is the 20th so desperately trying to cling on til then. Good news is that I can claim my meals on expenses for the next couple of days, but I'll need to pay for them on my credit card. Will try to only have a very small lunch and use my meal allowance to buy things I can bring home.

Other than that, its just the usual stuff from me.
Park at local station then rail pass to work
Free coffee and biscuits courtesy of my friend in the 1st Class lounge at the station Tdrank the coffee, will save the biscuits for home)
    Free newspapers on the train
Charged my phone on train and work phone at work

    Have a great day everyone.

Hi to everyone, especially the newbies

So for once I am trying to actually write a list of things I will do, rather than simply doing a list of things I have ( or have not!) done but meant to!

    Today I will:

    - defrost beef stew from freezer. Will feed all of us this eve with frozen green veg and rice, also from stores
    - planned family meals and done shop online from r&verford so whilst organic, will keep us going for next fortnight and no impulse buys will be good
    - put on a loaf of HM bread, now... And collect my cheaper bulk buy Vit C for the bread maker from the local chemist ( its an ace bread improver)
    - do a PAD against Co&p card
    - scoop together some of my spare change from the pot and get put into the OD current account. Every little helps!
    - get out stuff to EBay..made a list of possibles whilst at my mums this weekend

I have already done 2 lots washing at 30 and hung up to dry. I will also have a HM lunch of bread and cheese from our yummy Xmas leftovers...I LOVE cheese so deliberately overcatered over Xmas :D

Will update if anything else happens but taking it easy today.

    Cheers all

    Hugs

    Morning all!

So far I have checked the bank, only two DD's to come out now.
    Checked Onepoll for surveys
Today will be a LSD I think, will buy a roll for lunch at £1.30 ish :o

It's my niece's birthday today, am giving her a lovely handbag I won from House of Fraser, and I found 3 birthday cards I bought last year (7 for £1), and I have a roll of wrapping paper, so all in it's costing me nothing :j
Got 11 things listed on ebay yesterday
My sister has given me 4 binbags of clothes to sell on ebay or keep for myself, she always has really nice stuff (Oasis, Warehouse etc) rather than my Primark, Asda clothes lol. Pity she is a size 7 or I would keep all her shoes as well :rotfl:
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

    Hi again everyone

It's nice to get back to normal and able to post again & thanks for your well wishes :)

Pernicious - I've gone for a Galaxy S2. You're right about the iphone - think you're just paying for the brand.

My head really isn't in work today. Got so much going round and round and I'd rather be sorting out those things. Kinda feels like I'm wasting time being here, if that makes sense, because I know I could be putting my time and effort to better use elsewhere (ie at home sorting out my life!). I cannot wait until I'm a full time yoga teacher and working from home when I'm not teaching. I know the freedom to do that can only come from being debt free though so I best put that plan back into action. For the timebeing I need the security of a full-time salaried job. Just another five years to slog through, which I guess isn't long in the grand scheme of things.

Off to deposit cash in the bank, rather than leave it in my purse, and going to change my address with a few places. I will not spend money on my lunch break, I will not spend money on my lunch break…
  • I've still got a few big things to do (being a newbie), but here are today's small things:
    • Packed lunch for work
    • Checked OnePoll
    • Chased up my season ticket loan application with HR
    • Ensured that my childcare overpayment will be taken off next month's payment (saved 585 pennies!)
    • It's looking like an NSD
    • Will be preparing meat and veggies tonight to go into the slow cooker tomorrow morning
For the first time in a long time it's looking like I've got financial breathing room this month! It's nice to know that with care, I can be in control of my finances. All extra money to go straight onto credit cards at the end of the month. :T
