is my sky box dead?

I am experiencing a similar problem and have just gone to look at the dish and the connection for my multi room box is "wiggly" whereas the rest are all firmly set.

This will sound a silly question, but could this be what is affecting my signal as it keeps going "locked" then "not locked"?

I think its wiggling in the wind.

Plus, could I just buy another connector rather than fork out for a sky engineer who would probably just do the same?

Sorry, I just assumed that there would be some sort of connector between the wire and the dish which held the wire in.

I think you may be referring to the humble "F" connector?
