Chester weekend break.............

  • We visited last year and stayed just over the bored in Wales so a bit too far to recommend accomodation. However, we found it was really cheap and easy to visit Liverpool by train from Chester. We went from a station near Birkehead where they do a park and ride scheme where it is free to park and the cost of two return tickets for two people for a half hour journey was about £6.00. Very good value and an easy way to cross the Mersey.

If it's the one I'm thinking of it's Hooton Station - trains every 15 minutes to Liverpool and free parking.
  • If youre looking for somewhere with parking in the city centre, try the Holiday Inn Express at Chester Racecourse - rooms are some of the most reasonable in the city centre and includes breakfast, free wi-fi and parking. And only 5 mins walk into the main city centre area.
All hotels within the city centre are within easy walking distance of the main touristy area as Chester is only really small...
There's loads of B&Bs on the outskirts that have small car parks. The Premier Inn and the 2 travelodges in the cuty are a good bargain but have no car parks - the ones outside do, but not really within walking distance unless you are super fit!!!
You can get more information off the website https://www.visitchester.com which has loads of accommodation ideas on there as well as things to do.

Hi I previously stayed at the Mill, right in the centre, they have a barge and you can have a cruise and evening meal, breakfast was good too.

I'd second the Mill Hotel and Spa.

We stayed last March, had the meal on the boat too, very nice food, lovely breakfast too.

Has it's own car park too.

And I'll third it. Very comfortable hotel with a real ale bar!
  • Thank you all so much - off to have a look at the Mill
