Good morning everyone.
I'm just about to use my Crock pot slow cooker for the first time, to make my own receipe beef stew. I've read the book put I just want to check on a couple of things please.
I usually put enough liquid in (stock, tinned tomatoes & red wine) to cover the meat & veg - would that be the same?
Looking at the instructions I was going to cook it on low for about 10 hours, should that be ok?
BTW this is a MSE stew with whoopsied casserole steak from the freezer, and whoopsied veg of swede, carrotts, parnsips and onion, mostly paid for with a JTD voucher.
I have been using my slow cooker for a few years now,and wouldnt be without it,i even cook a full chicken in it ! the chicken comes out so wonderfully tender and moist and just falls off the bone, in my experience with a bit of trial and error i find that you dont need to add quite as much liquid as you would if you were cooking a casserole in the oven, i have a gammon joint in mine today, makes a nice quick easy tea, will have it with jacket spuds and beans maybe, and theres usually quite a bit of gammon left over which i chop up and we have in a chick and ham pie or a cheese and ham omelette the next day0 -

Hope you are feeling a little better, just been to the Extra there were no Mars packs of 9 in the store tonight, just 4 and 6 packs. There were some of the Temptations chocolate rolls for 10p load of them on the back wall with the other cake bars. Didnt look for the WW meals as I dont have any room in the freezer.
Also when you go to the extra do you go in the back entrance (!!) You may already do this but you know how its a bit of a pain driving into the Extra if you go down the road at the back of the B2net there is another entrance into the car park - much easier:T
Hi Saversavvy, thanks for that, saved me a trip! Might venture to ClayX later if I can stop sneezing and coughing:o. No didnt know about the back entrance! I will have a look next time. I hate the main entrance, really twisty and turny, very odd junctions!0 -

I usually just fling everything in (don't bother browning the meat as it's always a rush in the morning) leave it on high until I leave the house - usually about 1/2 - 1 hour then turn it down to low until I get back - usually 10 hours. I tend to use a bit less stock than I would if it was in the oven otherwise it can get runny (not usually a problem if you coat the meat with flour and brown off first though) or you could add some cornflour towards the end of cooking. so in answer to the question no I don't cover the ingredients with stock (probably up to 3/4 depth) as the rest cooks in the steam/juices that drip down off the lid.

Looks like they're on to the WW glitch, the 4 for £4 offer has been removed online.0

Can confirm Mars 9 pack scanning at 10p bar code ending 9773, normal store. Almost got caught, sa asked where i got them from for 10p,told her sweet aisle, off she went to check, i scanned as quick i could and made a sharp exit:rotfl::rotfl:
Were they on the sweet isle, or was that a decoy?!:rotfl:0 -
I've been looking at the Avios site, as from now to end of March you get 1,000 avios for every £2.50 of CC points, instead of the usual 600. So far I'm struggling to get excited about them, even with this offer - am I missing something? On the hotels I've been looking at the exchange rate seems barely 2 : 1, and it won't let me look at car hire. Has anyone else experience of them? I've quite a few CC points built up and it would be nice to use some this summer.Hope is not a strategy.0
